Cocktail Reception

In October, all CASE members were invited to attend a cocktail reception. These general membership meetings happen twice a year. At this event, Executive Director, Billy Burke, spoke to the members. His presentation included information about the recent changes to the compensation package. Following the presentation, CASE members had the opportunity to ask questions, which Billy answered. This presentation was captured in the video below, taken on October 24, 2022.

MASSP Aspiring Leaders Workshop

The Maryland Association of Secondary Public School Principals (MASSP) is offering Aspiring Leaders Workshop on April 28, 2018 from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab (APL) in Laurel, Maryland. Their announcement follows.

We sold out our February workshop.  So back by popular demand, we provide interested individuals a chance to experience this workshop attended by hundreds of Maryland aspiring leaders over the past two years.  This program has received rave reviews from virtually every attendee.  It is a repeat of the Pre-Assessment Center training held earlier this year.

Participants will explore how they might assess and develop their administrative skills as they prepare for a promotion.  Activities will be reflective, hands-on, thought provoking and introduce participants to the various steps used in many District-based Assessment Centers.

Activities for the day will include:

  • In-basket exercise
  • Data analysis exercise
  • Instructional observation and creation of feedback
  • Measured group activity
  • Writing sample (with feedback)
  • Analysis of your resume
  • Strategies/Tips for success
  • Personal interview (with peer feedback)

We will share wisdom from over 80 years of experience interviewing and rating candidates for promotion.

Our goal is to provide aspiring leaders experiences in this workshop typically NOT offered in your local school district leadership development programs.

Registration includes a continental breakfast provided in the morning beginning at 8:30 AM as well as lunch served on site provided by Columbia Chef Caterers.

On Friday October 13, 2017, CASE supported the BCPS Charitable Education Foundation by fielding a team in the Foundation’s annual golf outing. CASE was represented by Executive Director Tom DeHart, former Executive Director Bill Lawrence, Member Ken Miller, and CASE Board member Michelle Proser. While the CASE team did not finish in the prize level, they had a representative showing in no small part due to Michelle’s play!

Swing for Education Golf Classic

October 23, 2015 at Greystone Golf Course

Where better to spend a gorgeous Friday in October than at Greystone Golf Course in Whitehall? CASE joined Superintendent Dallas Dance and Debbie Phelps at “Swing for Education”, a benefit for the Education Foundation of Baltimore County. We sponsored two teams—one of them the only all-female team in the event. Both played well, and though they didn’t win, looked GREAT!

Fall 2015 General Membership Meeting

October 22, 2015 at Hayfields Country Club

Hayfields Country Club provided a lovely setting and terrific food for CASE’s Fall General Membership meeting—an outstanding event even without a round of golf. Discussion topics included current negotiations, renewal of Dr. Dance’s contract, updates on current cases involving members, and our successful implementation of agency fees.
